INFOGRAPHIC - SHADERS
A simple exercise in visual work for experimenting with shaders, this free project allowed me to experiment with creating aesthetic environments and playing around with visuals and mood.
Concept Development
In this project, we had complete freedom for pixelart, many examples being sprites such as space invaders or mushrooms from Mario. So I decided to recreate in pixelart the Dragon Amulet from Dragonfable, a game that is close to my heart and which was one of my inspirations to enter the field of Game Design.
The importance for me of this project was the mood and the atmosphere. I decided to sacrifice the awesome visual effects potential of shaders and instead make simple, yet aesthetically consistent effects.
This was accentuated through voxel asset packs, found on the Unity asset store, which gave the end result a cohesive and atmospheric look.
Used tools
- Due to the organization of this project, many tools were used during his work.
- To start,Adobe Illustratorwas used to create the original pixelarts. These were relatively simple and easy to create and Adobe Illustrator's layer system helps my penchant for looking for organization.
- Then the pixelart was recreated onAutodesk Maya. It was important to use the extrudes so that the inside of the model had no hidden faces.
- Finally, the project was concluded onUnity, in particular throughShader Graphs. Almost no code was needed for this project
What I learned
For theHard Skills, this project was mainly focused on Illustrator, Maya and Unity. In particular, I learned how to manipulate Maya's extrude and Shader Graphs on Unity.
For theSoft Skills, as for them, this project indirectly allowed me to train environmental design and graphic and aesthetic coherence.
